We are in the middle of the hottest summer on record and The Curious Seamstress of GreenWood Designs has some of the coolest, vintage swim suits on the grid! The Sea Pearls Swim Suit Collection! These are sexy in a classically elegant and fun way that would look great for sailing or swimming.
Firstly, we start with Sea Pearls 1920′s Swim Suit~ Just Ducky……
This bathing suit is from the last half of the 1920s when women’s swim suits went from black wool with long socks and shoes to brightly colored above the knee shorts and tunic tops. This suit is based on a real suit, so some young woman in the 1920s wore this to the beach.
Next I am wearing Sea Pearls 1940′s Dorothy Swim & Play Suit…………
This is an adorable one piece, blue gingham suit from the 1940′s. The demure design is true to the period, with a frilly skirt to cover you in a modest style, white eyelet lace at the neckline and tiny buttons at the back. The white straw beach hat has a wide blue band to match and a little cluster of juicy, red cherries. The heart shaped sunglasses add even more playfulness to Sea Pearls Dorothy Swim & Play 1940′s suit. I just adore blue gingham, don’t you?
Next up to the beach is the Sea Pearls 1947 Swim & Play Bubblegum Swim Suit also complete with wide brimmed beach hat and heart shaped sunglasses.
Bubblegum is a white with pink dots designed swimsuit that is adorable and totally something that would be a hit on the beaches in 1947. The front has a laced bodice with a bow to keep all the goodies in check with a cute little bows to top it off.
The back of Bubblegum is too cute for words with crisscrossed straps across the upper back and buttons to keep you cinched up. Fun & flirty, this would be just as at home on a sailboat as on the beach.
Swim & Play 1950′s Swim & Play Swim Suit Hibiscus is so pretty. This is such a cute, cute swimsuit, from the gorgeous, vibrant red and orange patterned print to the pineapple sunglasses….this may just be my favorite, but truly it’s hard to pick just one!
Pretty white hibiscus flowers are abundant and lend a tropical look to this suit and the overall look would be at home at a luncheon with the girls also.
The sunglasses are actually period and so quirky and awesome….little pineapples for your eyes….what could be more 50′s?
Next for your viewing pleasure, I am wearing Sea Pearls Vintage Swimsuit – 50′s French Picnic ………….
This suit is based on an early 1950′s French swim suit. It was considered quite risque for its time because of cut outs on the hip, but for us it is a perfect outfit for sailing or swimming. The sunglasses are vintage as well.
Next I have Sea Pearls 1950′s Sex Kitten Swim Suit…….
This suit is exactly like one worn by Brigitte Bardot in her break out movie, ‘And God Created Woman’. While the movie was panned, Miss Bardot made pink gingham suits hot.

Sometimes exposing more isn’t nearly as sexy as hinting at it can be. She also was the one who was titled sex kitten. That term can be good or bad, depending on how you view it. For me, I just think it’s cute.

I love this 1950′s inspired bikini, showing that the styles definitely got more daring with each passing decade.

Check out the sexy caboose this suit gives you, making you look amazing front to back !
This concludes a day at the beach with The Curious Seamstress of GreenWood Designs and I hope you enjoyed my blog. I love to show you the great vintage designs of Kembri Tomsen.
